User Centered Time Geography for Location-based Services
نویسندگان
چکیده
Location-based services assist people in their decision-making during the performance of tasks in space. They do not consider the user’s individual preferences, time constraints, and possible subtasks to be performed. In order to account for these important aspects, a user centered spatio-temporal theory of location-based services is required. We propose such a theory by combining classical time geography with an extended theory of affordances. It assumes that affordances belong to three realms: physical, social-institutional, and mental. In addition to covering the capability, coupling, and authority constraints from time geography, this allows for a user centered perspective because affordances describe action possibilities with respect to a specific person. Furthermore, the integration of mental affordances offers the possibility to account for cognitive time constraints due to the duration of decisionmaking processes. This new theory for location-based services is closer to the individual user and more plausible with respect to their daily lives. A business traveler scenario is used as a case study to demonstrate this.

Developing a ChatBot to Answer Spatial Queries for use in Location-based Services
A Chat Bot is an automated operator that can interact with customers like a human operator, answer their questions, solve problems and get feedback. Real-time responsiveness, the sense of talking to a human user is one of their good features that can be used to deliver location-based services. This paper designed a Chat Bot that can talk and answer users' questions based on their location. Thi...

The ongoing progression of mobile communication devices, in particular with respect to positioning capabilities, has enabled the development of a new generation of location-based services (LBS). One of the most important aspects of current research on LBS is personalisation but it has 10 been treated primarily for individual users. This article presents a first step towards personalised LBS tha...
متن کاملMobile user locating mechanism based on network latency
A mechanism for the positioning of mobile user location is presented in this paper. Based on the three-point problem from land surveying, this positioning mechanism makes use of network delay to estimate user locations by trigonometry and analytical geometry. Location-sensitive wireless services and applications can be provided without the need of obtaining access to the physical layer informat...
متن کاملAn Innovative Crowdsourcing Approach for
Web2 and the evolving vision of Web3 have a great effect on facilitation of information sharing, information aggregation, interoperability, user-centered design, collaboration on the World Wide Web, and crowd-centered services. New concept of Web is the intuition that drives crowdsourcing, crowd servicing, and crowd computing. With crowdsourcing emergence people get motivated to work through in...
متن کاملCrowd location forecasting at points of interest
Predicting the location of a mobile user in the near future can be used for a large number of user-centered ubiquitous applications. This can be extended to crowdcentered applications if a large number of users is included. In this paper we present a spatio-temporal prediction approach to forecast user location in a medium-term period. Our approach is based on the hypothesis that users exhibit ...
